Aero Squadron 

The Sheriff's Aero Squadron, part of the Search and Rescue team, was first formed in 1948 and restructured in 1974. The 37 members of the Aero Squadron consists of volunteers in all walks of life; bankers, ranchers, printers, radio techs, doctors and retired military, who are constantly practicing and refining those skills which some day may result in a life saved. These individuals donate their time, talent, and the use of their aircraft at no charge to the San Luis Obispo County taxpayers. In the last several years, the Aero Squadron has provided "Life Guard" as a service to this County as well as transporting life-saving organ transplants at no cost to the patient.
