The Mission of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department is to protect all life and property and to provide service, security and safety to the community, as directed by law and moral responsibility. The department provides service to the unincorporated areas of the county with 159 sworn personnel, 121 correctional staff, and 121 civilian personnel in addition to approximately 400 volunteers.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department, as a leading law enforcement agency, will continue to keep our communities safe through communication, leadership, technology, recognizing the inevitable changes associated with population growth and societal priorities.
