A few weeks prior to the search warrant, Detectives with the Sheriff's Narcotics Unit had conducted surveillance at that location and videotaped a narcotics transaction taking place. As a result, a judge granted the request for a search warrant of the residence and the vehicle associated with it.
A suspect was identified as 55-year-old Leonel Zavala Sanchez of Paso Robles.
Just prior to the search warrant being served, Detectives conducted surveillance at the home and again witnessed a narcotics transaction taking place. At that point, the suspect got into his vehicle and left the residence. A Sheriff's K9 Deputy initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle. The Deputy located approximately one pound of methamphetamine under the driver's seat where Sanchez had been sitting.
Detectives then searched the residence and found evidence that was consistent with the sales of narcotics including a scale, a ledger recording transactions and an additional 7 grams of methamphetamine.
Sanchez was arrested and booked into County Jail for transporting a controlled substance for sale and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
