Barricaded Subject Update #2

Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781 4547Date and time of incident: 7-9-14, Approximately 1:30 AMPlace of Occurrence: 200 block of Encino Lane, NipomoVictim Information: N/ASuspect Information: Mark Anthony Silva, Jr., 28, Santa Maria The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is releasing the identity of the subject who had barricaded himself inside a home in Nipomo on 7-9-14. The suspect is identified as 28-year-old Mark Anthony Silva, Jr. of Santa Maria.
Silva is believed to have been involved in a carjacking that occurred in Santa Maria. Deputies pursued Silva to Nipomo where he crashed the vehicle into a fence at the intersection of Juniper and Mary in Nipomo. Silva ran from the car into an occupied home on Encino Lane. A mother and four year old child were able to escape from the home with the assistance of patrol deputies on scene. Silva was believed to be armed. Members of the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail (SED) were in direct contact with Silva and after several hours of negotiations, Silva gave himself up at approximately 5:30 AM and was taken into custody without incident.
Silva had an outstanding $125,000 felony arrest warrant out of Santa Barbara County for auto theft with gang enhancements. In addition he was arrested for numerous other charges including false imprisonment, hit and run, felony vandalism and resisting arrest.
