Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781 4547Date and time of incident: 10-16-14, Approximately 10:16 AMPlace of Occurrence: Sheriff's OfficeVictim Information: N/ASuspect Information: N/AIn conjunction with the Great California Shake-out, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office participated in an earthquake preparedness drill at approximately 10:16 AM today. During the drill, employees were asked to evacuate the buildings on the main campus of the Sheriff's Office, as well as the three Sheriff's substations within the county and the County Jail went on lockdown.
The evacuation drill is just one of several scenarios that could be practiced during this event. This drill is the second step in the process, after the shaking from the earthquake has stopped. The first step in that process in the event of an earthquake is to drop, cover and hold on. Drop to the ground, cover under a desk or sturdy table and hold on for 60 seconds.
