Theft Arrest

Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 11-14-16, Approximately 5:10 PMPlace of Occurrence: 800 block of Sheridan Road, rural Arroyo GrandeVictim Information: N/ASuspect Information: Monica Menchaca, 36, Arroyo GrandeOn 11-14-16 Sheriff's Deputies, acting on an anonymous tip, arrested a woman who is believed to be connected to a theft of a package from the front porch of a home in Nipomo. The suspect is identified as 36-year-old Monica Menchaca of Arroyo Grande.
On 11-13-16, Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a theft at a home in the 1000 block of Ford Drive in Nipomo. The victim showed Deputies surveillance video of the female suspect taking a package from the front porch of his home and then placing it into her car, a white, four-door VW. That video was posted on social media and local media outlets reported the story, as well. An anonymous person who saw the video, called the Sheriff's Office to report the location of the suspect's vehicle.
At approximately 5:20 PM on 11-14-16 Deputies were dispatched to the 800 block of Sheridan Road in rural Arroyo Grande where they arrested Menchaca. She was booked into County Jail for being under the influence of a controlled substance and a probation violation.
The investigation is continuing to try and identify other possible theft victims and to recover any property which was stolen.
