Dive Team

With many miles of coastline and other bodies of water in our county, the Underwater Search and Recovery Dive Team is an active auxiliary service. This unit of citizen volunteers and full-time Sheriff’s Office personnel is kept busy by performing rescues and recoveries from waterways and underwater searches for evidence.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Unit is made up of trained volunteers. Unit members provide the manpower, knowledge, and skills to conduct searches for missing people.

Sheriff’s Posse

The Sheriff’s Posse is one of the oldest auxiliary units of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office. Dating back to the 1940’s, this unit is made up of volunteers on horseback. The Sheriff’s Posse represents the Sheriff’s Office in parades and search and rescue operations.

Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteer Patrol (SAVP)

The Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteer Patrol (SAVP) program was established to assist the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office in meeting it’s law enforcement mission. These volunteers act as additional  “eyes and ears” in an effort to identify crime in our community and increase public safety.
