Released: July 8, 2025 - Tuesday, 11:47 PM
Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the victim, an adult female, who had exited the residence. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Enrique Rubio, remained inside and refused to exit. After deputies confirmed that no other individuals were in the residence, Rubio began barricading himself inside.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident.
A perimeter was established around the residence. Despite repeated commands to surrender, Rubio did not comply. The Sheriff's Office deployed its Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Team, Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), and Special Enforcement Detail (SED) to the scene.
The Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to establish communication with Rubio and encouraged him to surrender peacefully. After several hours of noncompliance, Rubio exited the residence at approximately 10:16 PM and was taken into custody without further incident.
Rubio was arrested on charges of false imprisonment (PC 236), corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant (PC 273.5(a)), and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury (PC 245(a)(4)).
This was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
