Rural Crime Prevention & Ranch Watch

Rural Crime Prevention & Ranch Watch

A rural crime prevention program enlists the active participation of citizens living and/or working in rural areas to reduce crime in their communities, in cooperation with law enforcement. These programs are specifically designed to help counteract crime problems unique to agricultural enterprises and rural residents, and to provide information on a variety of topics. For further information please contact Crime Prevention Specialist Brandy Swain at (805) 781-4578.

Owner Applied Numbers (OAN’s)

Protect your property and help prevent crime by registering your equipment with an Owner-Applied Number (OAN). This number is discreetly engraved in a concealed location using metal punches or branding tools. If stolen property is later recovered and marked with an OAN, law enforcement can quickly identify the rightful owner and facilitate its return. Your Owner-Applied Number (OAN) is a unique ten-digit identifier assigned specifically to you and securely stored in a statewide database. Once your property is marked with this number, it can be identified and traced back to you if recovered anywhere in the United States.

To get started, visit: CRCPTF.org. A member of the CRCPTF will contact you once your OAN has been assigned.
