Explorer Program

Explorer Program

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program gives young people ages 15–21 the opportunity to experience law enforcement firsthand. The program helps develop responsible young adults by building self-confidence, leadership, and effective communication skills.

Explorers learn about the many areas of law enforcement and participate in hands-on training, including light to moderate physical activity. They also learn about the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, its operations, and the various career paths available within the organization.

Throughout the year, Explorers have opportunities to put their training into practice by assisting at community events, participating in Explorer competitions, and supporting Sheriff’s Office functions.

For more information about the Explorer Program and what they have been up to this year, take a look at our Annual Report.
