The Sheriff's Office would like to provide an update to the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Isabel LucasVelasco, of Coalinga. Isabel was reported missing to the Sheriff's Office on September 13th. During an initial investigation, the Sheriff's Office determined Isabel was last seen at a jobsite in rural Arroyo Grande on September 12th. The Sheriff's Office Detective Division has worked extensively for the past month in an attempt to locate Isabel and hold those responsible for her disappearance accountable.

On Saturday, October 11th, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office and the Fresno County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue teams, along with detectives, conducted an extensive search of Highway 198, west of Coalinga. During this search, Search and Rescue located a body, believed to be Isabel. The body has been turned over to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Coroner Office for confirmation of identification.

This case is now considered a homicide, and two people have been arrested in connection to this incident. Alejandro SorianoOrtiz, 45, of Coalinga has been arrested for one count of murder and one count of arson, in connection with burning the victim's vehicle. His brother, Celestino SorianoOrtiz, 40, of Santa Maria has been arrested as an accessory to murder, as well as for the arson incident.

"We want to thank the Fresno County Sheriff's Office and the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office for their valuable assistance," Sheriff Parkinson said. " I also want to highlight the amazing work of our Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit (MCU), Special Victim's Unit (SVU), Special Operations Unit (SOU), and the Sheriff's Search and Rescue Unit for their tireless dedication to solving this case and giving some closure to Isabel's family."

Alejandro SorianoOrtiz is believed to be the former boyfriend of Isabel. This case is still under active investigation, and no further information or comment is available at this time.
