The owner of the construction company reported that his bookkeeper had embezzled more than 47,000 dollars from the company. The bookkeeper had reportedly taken a check made out to a vendor for the construction company, altered the check, and then deposited the amount into her personal bank account.
A three-month investigation uncovered more company checks which had been deposited into the bookkeeper's personal bank account. The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Joy Noel Wilde of Atascadero.
It's believed over the past three years, Wilde forged and deposited 63 company checks totaling 957,000 dollars into her own bank accounts.
On 10-2-19 Deputies arrested Wilde for grand theft, embezzlement, forgery and attempted grand theft.
